Investigator injured in Makhachkala car bomb explosion dies in hospital
MAKHACHKALA. Oct 24 (Interfax) - An employee of the Russian Investigative Committee's Dagestan branch, Ramazan Ramazanov, died in the hospital after being injured in a car bomb explosion in Makhachkala, a committee spokesman told Interfax on Thursday.
A criminal inquiry has been opened into his death.
"Ramazanov died from the injuries he sustained [in the blast]. A criminal case has been opened on the counts of an attempt on the life of an investigator (Article 295 of the Russian Penal Code), illegal possession of weapons (Article 222), illegal production of weapons, ammunition and explosive devices (Article 223) and intentional damage to property (Article 167)," he said.
Ramazanov was seriously injured after a bomb planted under his Hyundai Sonata exploded at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.
