Kazan gunpowder factory fire extinguished
KAZAN. Oct 24 (Interfax) - A fire, which broke out in the Kazan gunpowder factory's nitro-enamel shop on Thursday morning, has been put out, a source from the Tatarstan emergency situations department told Interfax.
"Open flames were extinguished at 9:17 a.m. Moscow time. Water is being poured over [the shop] structures," he said.
The fire on the second story of the three-story brick building was reported at 7:36 a.m. Moscow time, and the blaze was confined within 120 square meters by 8:47 a.m. Moscow time. Technological processes were suspended.
A female worker of the shop was taken to a hospital with burns on her face, neck and hand. Another worker was in shock. He was given medical assistance at the scene.
Causes of the fire are being determined. Investigators are working at the scene of the fire.
