Belarus seeking World Bank loan for entrepreneurship development
MINSK. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Belarus intends to raise an investment loan from the World Bank and put the money towards the development of entrepreneurship and small and midsized business in the various region of the country.
"We asked the president, and he assented, so the fund for the financial support of entrepreneurship is now directly subordinate to the Economy Ministry. We are conducting its [the fund's] reconstruction and would like to increase its capitalization. In work with the World Bank we reached agreement on obtaining an investment loan to increase this fund's capitalization," Economy Minister Nikolai Snopkov told the press in Minsk on Thursday.
Snopkov said that a loan of up to 40 million euros is under discussion and that Belarus is counting on the largest loan possible.
