Black Sea ship Azov joins Russian naval group in Mediterranean

MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax-AVN) - The Black Sea large landing ship Azov, which is heading from Baltiysk to Sevastopol, has left the port of Ceuta (Spanish enclave in North Africa) and entered the Mediterranean, a military-diplomatic source told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.

"the large landing ship Azov entered Ceuta to replenish its supplies. The ship successfully left the Spanish port, went through the Strait of Gibraltar, and entered the Mediterranean, and now is reporting to the Russian naval group,' the source said.

The source said the ship has already begun fulfilling tasks set by the operative command of the Russian Navy, It is scheduled to return to Sevastopol in early November. The source recalled that three Russian big landing ships (Novocherkassk, Minsk, and Yamal) headed to the Mediterranean through Black Sea straits on Monday.
