Beloyarsk NPP suspends operation for fortnight for fuel reload, maintenance
YEKATERINBURG. Oct 25 (Interfax) - The BN-600 unit of the Beloyarsk nuclear power plant in the Yekaterinburg region suspended its operations on October 25 for the scheduled refueling, checks and maintenance work, the power plant's information center reported.
The works will be done within two weeks.
The current output of the only operating reactor is 245 megawatts.
The Beloyarsk NPP is a branch of the Rosenergoatom Concern. It is the only nuclear power plant in Russia operating the BN-600 fast breeder reactor. Another reactor of the type, 800-megawatt BN-800, is under construction. The first two units of the Beloyarsk NPP, water-cooled graphite-moderated channel-type slow neutron reactors ABM-100 and ABM-200, were shut down and are in the process of being decommissioned.
