Econ ministry raises October inflation forecast to 0.5% - Klepach

MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - Russia's Economic Development Ministry is now forecasting inflation for this month at 0.5%, having earlier predicted 0.3%-0.4%, Deputy Economic Development Minister Andrei Klepach said during a Friday briefing in Moscow.

Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) has said weekly inflation last week accelerated to 0.2% for the first time since the middle of July.

Even so, Klepach said he was confident inflation would be no higher than 6% for the year.

Inflation was also 0.5% in October 2012 and is likely, according to the Econ Ministry, to be 6.1% in annual terms in October, as in September.

"Inflation does not look like it will slow for the year, so we are keeping our forecast of around 6% December-on-December," he said.
