Russian airlines carry 10% more passengers in Sept

MOSCOW. Oct 28 (Interfax) - Russian airlines in September, 2013 increased the number of passengers flown by 9.7% to 8.551 million year-on-year, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) said.

The number of passengers on international flights grew by 7.9% to 4.703 million, and the number on domestic flights rose by 12% to 3.848 million.

Passenger-turnover for the companies increased by 7% to 21.677 billion passenger-kilometers. Seat occupancy rose by 0.4 percentage points to 83.2%.

The transport of cargo and mail in September, 2013 decreased by 2.6% to 85,200 tonnes. Cargo turnover fell by 7.6% to 422.5 million tonne-km.

In January-September, Russian airlines increased the number of passengers by 14.7% to 65.2 million, and passenger-turnover grew by 16% to 172.9 billion passenger-kilometers.

Cargo and mail carriage in January-September of this year grew by 1.6% to 730 million tonne-km.
