Belarus sees potash exports drop 9.6% in Jan-Aug

MINSK. Oct 29 (Interfax) - Belarus exported 2.5 million tonnes of potash fertilizer (in 100% nutrient equivalent) in the first eight months of 2013, 9.6% less than in the same period of 2012, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) reported.

Average export contract prices dropped 13.9% to $633 per tonne in the eight months, Belstat said.

Almost all the potash was exported to countries outside the CIS. Exports to the CIS amounted to just 91,500 tonnes, down 7% year-on-year. The average contract price fell 12.8% to $605 per tonne.

Belarus also exported 114,700 tonnes of nitrogen fertilizer (in 100% nutrient equivalent) in the first eight months of 2013, 5.3% less year-on-year. Average export contract prices edged up 0.6% to $806 per tonne.
