St. Jude's storm causes blackout in over 60 towns in Pskov region

PSKOV. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Power outages caused by St. Jude's storm continued in 63 towns in five districts of the Russian Pskov region as of 8 a.m. Moscow time on Wednesday, the regional emergency situations department said.

Lights are out in 264 homes of 1,059 tenants, including 287 children. "None of the socially significant facilities is having a blackout now," the report said. Seventy-five workers of 30 Pskovenergo energy company teams are repairing the damage with 30 pieces of hardware.

St. Jude's storm hit the majority of regions in Northwestern Russia on Tuesday. Power outages were reported by thousands of residents of the Leningrad, Novgorod and Vologda regions.
