Roshen denies rumors of its sale

KYIV. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Roshen Confectionary Corporation has denied the alleged selling of its business to the Norwegian company Orkla.

"Such reports are groundless," the Roshen website said.

"Roshen Corporation is operating successfully, exporting its products to more than 30 countries and actively entering new markets. The company is not using borrowed funds in its development," it said.

The media said that Orkla, the St. Petersburg Krupskaya confectionary factory owner, was prepared to conclude the Roshen acquisition deal within several weeks.

Roshen Corporation, a leading confectionary producer in Ukraine, incorporates confectionary factories in Kyiv, Maruipol (Donetsk region) and Kremenchug, two confectionary factories in Vynnytsa, the Bershadmoloko butter-milk plant in the Vynnytsa region, the Roshen factory in Lipetsk (Russia), the confectionary factory in Klaipeda (Lithuania) and the Bonbonetti Choco factory (Hungary).

The corporation produces up to 200 types of confectionary products, such as chocolate and jelly candies, hard candies, cookies, wafers, sponge rolls and cakes. The total output stands at 410,000 tonnes of products per year.
