Lavrov hopes public polemic won't complicate Russian-Japanese talks

TOKYO. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he is hoping that Russian-Japanese dialogue will not be complicated by the public polemic that took place in the past.

"Our leaders have agreed that dialogue will develop constructively in the context of strengthening the general atmosphere of our relations, without emotional outbursts, and without public polemic that cast doubt on the possibility of continuing dialogue many times in the past," Lavrov told a press conference following the negotiations with Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida.

"I hope such situations will not occur again," Lavrov said.
