Opponents to Russian March conduct limited street action outside of Russian embassy in Bishkek
BISHKEK. Nov 4 (Interfax) - Around a dozen people conducted an action against the Russian March outside of the Russian embassy in Bishkek on Monday, an Interfax correspondent reports.
Participants said that the Russian march held on National Unity Day in Russia (November 4) is turning into a Nazi procession.
"We are also opposed to the oppression of our labor migrants and demand punishing everyone responsible for the attacks on them," Marat Musuraliyev, a participant in the protest, told Interfax.
"Besides, we don't want Kyrgyzstan to join the Customs Union where it will not have a voice of its own and the rights of the population will be badly damaged from the economic point of view," he added.
He said that over 1,000 people have joined a group recently established on the web against Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Customs Union.
The protesters carried placards against the Russian March and Customs Union and in support of labor migrants.
"We see no problems with our migrants in Russia," Kyrgyz Migration and Youth Policy Minister Aliyasbek Alymkulov told Interfax. "Most of our migrants are law-abiding citizens and stay in Russia on lawful grounds," he said.
He said that after the recent developments in Moscow's Biryulyovo district part of the migrants asked the Kyrgyz government to help them with their legalization in Russia and gave a month's time for resolving the issue.
