Su-35 contract with China may be signed in 2014 - source

MOSCOW. Nov 6 (Interfax-AVN) - A contract on the delivery of Russia's Sukhoi Su-35 multirole fighter jets to China may be signed in 2014, a source from Russian military export agencies told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.

"The deliveries of Su-35 [fighters] to China may begin in late 2014 or early 2015," he said.

Originally, the contract was expected to be concluded in 2013.

"The quantity specified by the draft Su-35 contract has not changed - 24 jets [will be delivered]. However, China has set additional requirements: it wants to buy jets adjusted to Chinese specifications rather than aircraft produced for the Russian Air Force," the source said.

He did not say which adjustments would be made to meet China's standards.

"The Chinese proposition needs further consideration, and the pre-contract negotiations will continue," the source said. "The contract will be signed anyway: a political decision to this effect has already been made."
