Russia harvests nearly 92 mln t of grain in bunker weight by Nov 6
MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax) - Russia had harvested 91.9 million tonnes of grain in bunker weight by November 6, compared to 72.8 million tonnes a year earlier and 96.4 million tonnes in 2011, the Agriculture Ministry reported, citing the latest figures from regional agribusiness agencies.
Grains and grain legumes have been threshed from almost 41 million hectares, or 93.1% of the harvested area, compared to 38.6 million ha in 2012 and 41.7 million ha in 2011. The yield is 2.24 t/ha, up from 1.89 t/ha last year but down from 2.31 t/ha in 2011.
Wheat has been threshed form 23.3 million ha, or 97.2% of the harvested area. The gross harvest is about 53.7 million tonnes, up from 39.6 million tonnes a year earlier but down from 59.2 million tonnes in 2011. The wheat yield is 2.3 t/ha, compared to 1.85 t/ha in 2012 and 2.37 t/ha in 2011.
Barley has been threshed from 7.8 million ha, or 91.8% of the harvested area. Farmers have harvested more than 15.8 million tonnes of barley, compared to 14.7 million tonnes in 2012 and 17.6 million tonnes in 2011, at a yield of 2.04 t/ha, compared to respectively 1.93 t/ha and 2.29 t/ha.
Corn has been cleared from 1.4 million ha, or 58.4% of the harvest area. Farmers have harvested 7.5 million tonnes, compared to 6.4 million tonnes in 2012 and 4.3 million tonnes in 2011, at a yield of 5.3 t/ha, compared to respectively 4.17 t/ha and 4.38 t/ha.
Farmers have harvested 961,300 tonnes of rice from 173,700 ha (91.6% of the area), compared to 1.1 million tonnes in 2012 and 1 million tonnes in 2011, at a yield of 5.53 t/ha, compared to respectively 6.33 t/ha and 5.76 t/ha.
Farmers have harvested about 8 million tonnes of sunflower seeds from 4.9 million ha (68.4% of the area), compared to 7.2 million tonnes in 2012 and 7.2 million tonnes in 2011, at a yield of 1.62 t/ha, compared to respectively 1.29 t/ha and 1.37 t/ha.
The ministry also reported that sugar beet has been harvested from 779,700 ha, or 86.1% of the area, compared to 966,400 ha in 2012 and 890,000 ha in 2011. Farmers have harvested 33.9 million tonnes of sugar beet, down from 36.8 million tonnes in 2012 and 34.5 million tonnes in 2011, at a yield of 43.47 t/ha, compared to respectively 38.03 t/ha and 38.79 t/ha.
Farmers have harvested long-stemmed flax from 46,600 ha (93.5% of area), compared to 50,600 ha in 2012 and 52,300 ha in 2011.
Agricultural enterprises have harvested 3.4 million tonnes of potatoes from 179,100 ha (93.3%), compared to 4.1 million tonnes in 2012 and 4.3 million tonnes in 2011, at a yield of 19.21 t/ha, compared to respectively 18.08 t/ha and 19.2 t/ha.
Agricultural enterprises have also harvested over 1.5 million tonnes of vegetables from 77,500 ha (95.2%), compared to 1.5 million tonnes in 2012 and 1.9 million tonnes in 2011, at a yield of 20.08 t/ha, compared to respectively 18.98 t/ha and 22.18 t/ha.
Winter grains for harvest in 2014 have been planted on 14.2 million ha (87.3% of the forecast), compared to 15.6 million ha last year and 15.5 million ha in 2011.
The ministry forecasts that the gross grain harvest this year will be 90 million tonnes in clean weight, compared to 70.9 million tonnes last year and 94.2 million tonnes in 2011.
