Bordyuzha: ISAF pullout isn't catastrophic for Afghanistan but may harm region
MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax-AVN) - The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) does not expect a catastrophic change in security levels in Afghanistan after the pullout of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in 2014, CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said.
"The CSTO does not think the year 2014 will be catastrophic [for Afghanistan] nor does it think security levels will change significantly. Yet we realize there will be a decline in [regional] stability. Therefore, we expect certain negative implications from the Afghan situation for Central Asian states," Bordyuzha said after a meeting with Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Secretary General Lamberto Zannier.
