Four militants, one ringleader killed in North Caucasus over past week
PYATIGORSK. Nov 11 (Interfax) - Seven terrorist crimes, including six shooting incidents and a bombing, were recorded in the North Caucasus on November 2-8, the North Caucasus Federal District police department said.
Also, the police had two clashes with militants.
"Khalid Rabadanov, the leader of the Levashinskaya ring, which has been involved in terrorism and sabotage, and four other militants were killed. Another twelve militants were taken into custody," the department reported.
A total of 52 militants have given themselves up since January 1, 2013, it said.
Last week militants killed two persons and injured three, the police said.
Three caches storing terrorist materials were discovered over the past week. A bomb with an explosive power of up to 10 kilograms of TNT and metal pieces for similar bombs were found in the village of Kharachi in the Untsukul district of Dagestan on November 2.
The police seized three grenade launchers, six submachine guns, seven handguns, 15 grenades, five grenade launcher munitions, four handmade bombs and 2.4 kilograms of explosives.
