U.S. military ship arrives in Georgia's Batumi port
TBILISI. Nov 11 (Interfax) - The command ship of the U.S. Navy's Sixth Fleet, Mount Whitney, arrived on Monday in the Batumi port with a three-day friendly visit.
The Mount Whitney ship already came to Georgia in August 2008 and was the first NATO ship, which delivered humanitarian cargo to the Georgian port of Poti for those affected by the August 2008 war in South Ossetia.
The bilateral Georgian-U.S. drills will be held during the visit of the U.S. ship, Director of the Georgian Interior Ministry's Naval Police Colonel Koba Bochorishvili told reporters.
"The methods of planning and managing operations and information exchange will be practiced. It is very important for Georgian naval border guards to study the experience of the U.S. colleagues," Bochorishvili said.
