Head of EU delegation to Moscow hopes Ukraine, EU to sign association agreement in Vilnius

MOSCOW. Nov 12 (Interfax) - Vygaudas Usackas, the head of the European Union delegation to Russia, expects the EU and Ukraine to reach a consensus on an association agreement before the end of November to sign the agreement at an Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius on November 28-29.

"I hope the agreement will be signed, although negotiations on the entire spectrum of issues are still proceeding, which are being resolved on a bilateral basis between the EU and Ukraine," Usackas said on Echo of Moscow radio on Tuesday.

"I hope we will complete the negotiations by the Vilnius [summit] at the end of November. And I personally hope that such documents will be signed during the summit, which should provide an incentive to Ukraine's growing competitiveness and will serve to increase the amount of production in the partner-countries. It should also become an additional factor for free flow of capital and trade between Ukraine and the EU, and I also hope this will be a positive factor for relations with Russia," he said.
