Russia, S. Korea welcome deal on Syrian chemical weapons destruction - statement

SEOUL. Nov 13 (Interfax) - Russia and South Korea welcome Syria's decision to join the Chemical Weapons Convention and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and highly value the Russian-U.S. framework agreements on the disposal of chemical weapons in Syria, says a statement the two countries signed following South Korean-Russian top level negotiations in Seoul on Wednesday.

The parties favor the soonest possible political settlement of the crisis in Syria and call for convening an international conference to start a negotiating process between the conflicting parties in Syria, it says.
