Moscow City Court dissolves jury in Politkovskaya murder trial

MOSCOW. Nov 14 (Interfax) - The Moscow City Court has dissolved the jury in the trial dealing with the murder of journalist Anna Politkovskaya.

Judge Pavel Melekhin presiding at the proceedings ruled on Thursday that the hearing of the case by the current composition of the jury was impossible and that a new jury would be put together on January 14.

Prosecutor Maria Semenenko said earlier in the courtroom that, after two jury members refused to take part in the proceedings, the prosecution did not see it possible to continue the trial.

Murad Musayev, a defense attorney to one of the defendants in the case, confirmed to Interfax that "the prosecutors are asking for the dissolution of the jury in the Politkovskaya murder case."
