CSTO preventive measures should avert possible conflicts in its responsibility zone - Bordyuzha
MOSCOW. Nov 14 (Interfax-AVN) - The demonstration of peacemaking units' capabilities should become the primary factor that prevents armed conflicts in the responsibility zone of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said.
"First of all, this creates a system of preventive measures using special purpose and peacemaking units. I think that this has a considerable impact," Bordyuzha told reporters at a news conference in the Russian Institute of Strategic Research in Moscow on Thursday.
Taking preventive measures will allow the prevention of armed clashes between CSTO states and third countries and will become the main factor that allows the organization to avoid using peacemaking forces in real conflicts, Bordyuzha said.
"As I understand it, peacemaking is the final stage of resolving a conflict," Bordyuzha said.
