Russian Open Skies inspectors to test new optical-electronic system in Danish mission
MOSCOW. Nov 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian inspectors will go on a trial observation mission in Denmark aboard the Antonov-30B Open Skies aircraft equipped with a Russian-made digital observation system.
"The trial mission will be conducted from the Aalborg Open Skies airfield on November 18-22," National Nuclear Threat Reduction Center head Sergei Ryzhkov told reporters.
He said Russia was "the first member country of the [Open Skies] Treaty to install modern optical-electronic systems onboard its observation aircraft."
The equipment passed international certification involving 58 representatives of 22 member states on September 21-27, 2013, Ryzhkov said.
"This would be the first Open Skies mission using new technologies," Ryzhkov emphasized.
