Ukraine, Russia reach gas payment compromise - Stavytsky

KYIV. Nov 18 (Interfax) - Ukraine and Russia have struck a compromise over paying for Russian gas and its purchase by Ukraine's national oil and gas company Naftogaz Ukrainy, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Eduard Stavytsky said.

"Gas is being delivered, the issue of financing and payment is [settled]," the minister said in Kyiv on Monday.

The parties were available to avoid "the formalities that cropped up in the middle of October and beginning of November," Stavytsky said.

Asked about Naftogaz's resumption of gas purchases and amounts, he said, "We're proceeding on schedule, from 45 to 90 million cubic meters a day." This is the schedule worked out for the current heating season, he said.
