Pilot error preliminarily ruled to have caused Kazan plane crash - IAC

MOSCOW. Nov 19 (Interfax) - The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC), a body authorized to investigate civil air incidents in the CIS, has found preliminarily that the crash of a Boeing 737-500 in Kazan was caused by pilot error.

"While approaching for landing, the crew failed to perform a standard approach procedure. Finding out that their attitude was not appropriate for landing, the crew started a go-around maneuver using the TO/GA switch. After the airspeed dropped to 125 knots, the crew started a pushover maneuver using the steering column, which caused the plane to stop climbing and dive, with its instrument airspeed rising," it said.
