Ukraine experiences serious difficulties due to loss of trade turnover with CIS countries - PM

ST. PETERSBURG. Nov 20 (Interfax) - Ukraine lost approximately 25% of trade turnover with the CIS countries this year and these are considerable economic losses for the country, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said.

"If in 2012 we had a considerable trade turnover gain, in 2013 we lost about a quarter in the cooperation with the CIS market. Of course, these are major economic losses for us and Ukraine experiences very serious difficulties due to this," Azarov said at a news conference joint with his Russian and Belarusian counterparts Dmitry Medvedev and Mikhail Myasnikovich in St. Petersburg on Wednesday.

Due to this, the issue of building the relations in 2014 - in implementing the free trade zone agreement within the CIS in order to reach trade turnover gain - was discussed at the meeting of the Council of CIS Prime Ministers on Wednesday, Azarov said. Ukraine supports eliminating barriers in mutual trade, the Ukrainian prime minister said.
