Former Kyrgyz parliament speaker suspected of corruption, detained
BISHKEK. Nov 20 (Interfax) - The Kyrgyz Prosecutor General's Office has detained the State National Security Committee former Parliament Speaker Ahmatbek Keldibekov and placed him in a detention facility of, the agency's press office told Interfax on Wednesday.
"Prosecutor General Aida Salyanova has opened criminal cases under articles on corruption and abuse of office regarding Deputy of Jogorku Kengesh (Parliament) Ahmatbek Keldibekovich Keldibekov," the Prosecutor General's Office press office said.
According to the information of the press office, the criminal cases have been opened over corruption amid groundless allocation and spending of the Social Foundation funds in 2005.
"Keldibekov was detained and placed in the detention facility of the State National Security Service on Wednesday, November 20," the Prosecutor General's Office said.
