Ukrainian envoy to Eurasian Economic Commission praises govt's unanimous decision to suspend association deal with EU

KYIV. Nov 21 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government's unanimous decision to suspend the signature of an association agreement with the EU against the background of a disastrous drop of Ukraine's exports to the CIS and Belarusian-Kazakh-Russian Customs Union countries and the lack of real economic and financial support from the EU was the only correct one, says Viktor Suslov, Ukraine's representative in the Eurasian Economic Commission.

"It is important that the decision on this directive at the Cabinet session was made unanimously," Suslov told Interfax.

Suslov said he was present at the discussion on the matter, and an overwhelming majority of ministers reasonably spoke in favor of this decision by assessing the situation in their sectors.

"It would have been extremely risky to sign an association agreement today, not having any real support measures," he said.
