Counterterrorist operation launch in Makhachkala suburb

MOSCOW. Nov 26 (Interfax) - A counterterrorist operation has been launched in a suburb of Makhachkala, Dagestan, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) told Interfax.

"In line with a directive by the chief of the FSB [Federal Security Service] department for Dagestan, a counterterrorist operation was launched within the administrative borders of the community of Novy Khushet starting 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and the community has been assigned counterterrorist operation status," a NAC spokesperson said.

He did not specify the reasons for the decision.
