Minsk says Russia not related to contract of Belarusians attacked in Yemen
MINSK. Nov 27 (Interfax) - Head of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee Sergei Gurulev said that Belarusians, attacked in Yemen, were working under a Belarusian contract in accordance with international law, without specifying which Belarusian enterprise concluded the agreement.
"No violations of international law occurred there. Everything has been agreed upon with the Yemeni military," Gurulev said at a news conference in Minsk in Wednesday.
"This was a Belarusian contract. Russia had nothing to do with it," Gurulev said.
These people worked in Yemen "legally under concluded contracts," Gurulev said. "Of course, people are free to work differently but enterprises [when working in foreign markets] comply with relevant regulations," he said.
"Yes, very regrettably, not everything is stable in certain countries where we work," Gurulev said. The incident in Yemen is "a tragic case," he said.
Two Belarusian citizens were attacked in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa on November 26, one of them died and the other was injured.
