Amnesty International condemns EuroMaidan dispersal

KYIV. Nov 30 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian office of Amnesty International condemned the dispersal of the EuroMaidan in Kyiv and demanded an immediate and effective investigation into this incident.

"Amnesty International condemns the dispersal of a peaceful rally in Kyiv's Independence Square on Saturday morning and calls for an immediate, effective and independent investigation into the statements of disproportionate use of force by the Berkut special task police," Amnesty International's office in Ukraine said in a press release issued in Ukraine on Saturday.

"By toughly dispersing a peaceful rally on Saturday morning the Ukrainian administration violated the standards and values it had declared," Tatyana Mazur, Amnesty International director in Ukraine, said.
