EuroMaidan reviving in Kyiv, activists from Lviv join protest

KYIV. Dec 1 (Interfax) - EuroMaidan in the square outside of St. Michael's monastery in Kyiv is welcoming the first groups of protesters from Lviv region.

An Interfax correspondent reports that a group of Lviv residents arriving on cars were welcomed by applause and chanting.

Red-and-black flags can be seen in the square in addition to the national flags of Ukraine and the EU.

The EuroMaidan in the square outside of the monastery successfully survived the night. Local residents are gradually coming to it and buses from other regions are arriving.

Earlier the press service of UDAR party reported that some 10,000 people would come to Kyiv from Lviv region for the opposition rally.

Cars driving by the square are hooting to the protesters to express solidarity.

Some 30 officers of Berkut riot police remain in Independence Square. The square where a Christmas tree is to be erected is fenced off. The situation is calm.
