Russia will remain Uzbekistan's strategic partner, ally - Karimov
TASHKENT. Dec 2 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev believes there is a need for regular consultations between Russia and its allies such as Uzbekistan.
Medvedev made that statement at a meeting with Uzbek President Islom Karimov after the session of the Council of the Heads of Governments of the Countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
"This event is a good reason to meet and exchange our ideas on the development of our strategic partnership," Medvedev said. "We are very close partners and friends. It is important to always check the clocks on issues related to bilateral cooperation and international issues in this complex, rapidly changing world," he said.
Medvedev also gave Karimov Vladimir Putin's best wishes.
Karimov also said the Council of the Heads of Governments of the SCO Countries is "a good foundation for meeting and exchanging ideas on all important issues relating to bilateral relations and international situation. "The rapidly changing situation in the world is creating new situations for us, which we can't help but take into account," he said. "However, Russia has always been and will be our strategic partner and ally," he said.
