Heroin addicts commit 1 billion drug crimes annually - FSKN
MOSCOW. Dec 2 (Interfax) - Heroin consumers commit one billion drug crimes annually, Russian Federal Drug Control Service said.
"Heroin consumers alone account for an astronomical (one billion) number of facts of retail sales a year. This means one billion drug crimes a year," Ivanov told a roundtable meeting in the State Duma on Monday.
There are some 1.5 million heroin addicts in Russia, and each of them has on average two doses daily, he said. Every dose costs 1,500 rubles. This means that a drug addict needs some $100 a day on drugs.
"At least one-third of them, that is, 500,000 people, who do not have 90,000 rubles a month to buy drugs, earn their doses by disseminating some 200 drug doses, which they receive from small drug dealers, every month," he said.
