UralChem 'not against' renewed Uralkali, Belaruskali partnership; management to decide

MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - UralChem, which is purchasing a 20% stake in Uralkali , is not opposed to seeing Uralkali and Belaruskali resume their mineral fertilizer sales partnership, so long as it is conducted on a mutually beneficial basis, UralChem CEO Dmitry Konyaev said at a press conference.

However, the potential resumption of the partnership would have to be supported by Uralkali management, he said

"First and foremost, it [the partnership] must be mutually beneficial and if Uralkali management finds the options for doing that, then we probably will not be against it," Konyaev said.

Asked whether the purchase of a stake in Uralkali on the part of Belarus had been discussed, considering that the main UralChem stockholder, Dmitry Mazepin, is a native of Belarus, Konyaev said, "As concerns the influence on our decision to buy Uralkali stock, there is no influence on the part of Belarus."
