Armenian, Azeri foreign ministers agree to continue Karabakh settlement consultations

YEREVAN. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Armenian Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandian and his Azeri counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov have agreed in Kyiv to continue the Karabakh settlement consultations in the upcoming weeks, the Armenian Foreign Ministry press service told Interfax.

"The foreign ministers and an OSCE Minsk Group cochairman have conversed in Kyiv with the purpose of fostering the peace process and have exchanged opinions about possible steps, which may alleviate tensions in the conflict zone," a ministry spokesman said on Thursday.

The intermediaries and the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan "agreed that the settlement consultations would continue in the upcoming weeks and an OSCE Minsk Group cochairman would visit the region shortly," the report said.

The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan met in Kyiv on Wednesday.
