Banning entry to Russia is effective measure to fight illegal immigration - Federal Migration Service chief
MOSCOW. Dec 6 (Interfax) - Over 405,000 foreign citizens, who violated migration laws, were banned entry to Russia in 2013, Russian Federal Migration Service Chief Konstantin Romodanovsky said.
"These people can not enter Russia for three years," Romodanovsky said during a lecture in the Moscow State University on Friday.
This is an effective measure to fight illegal immigration, he said.
Foreigners are banned entry into Russia if they committed two or more offenses and stayed over the time permitted by law, Russian Federal Migration Service press secretary Zalina Kornilova told Interfax. Entry limitations are also introduced in case a decision on exclusion, deportation or readmission was returned on a foreign citizen or when using a fake migration card, she said.
