Shoigu orders to resupply Container radar on trial duty in Mordovia
MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu ordered on Monday that the Container next-generation radar and the radar complex be resupplied and improved, which were put on a trial duty in Mordovia a week ago.
"We are perfectly aware that this complex and this station will broaden our horizons of control and monitoring of the western sector. Therefore, I insist that every relevant commander starts to resupply the radar complex in strict compliance with the approved plans and schedule," Shoigu said at a teleconference at the Russian Defense Ministry.
The minister said he expected the station to be vastly improved for the sake of more efficient use of its capacities.
Reports on the trial duty of the Container next-generation radar station were published on December 2. This is the first radar station of the Aerospace Defense Forces' air defense and missile defense command capable of the detection of various airborne targets at a distance exceeding 3,000 kilometers.
The station is an element of the aerospace attack reconnaissance and warning network.
