Time limit on 'third Khodorkovsky case' expires in 2015 - source
MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - The statute of limitations of the so-called third Khodorkovsky case expires in 2015, and if new charges are bought, the former Yukos CEO could face a new prison term of up to seven years, a source familiar with the situation told Interfax on Monday.
"In August 2006, from the big Yukos case launched in 2003, a criminal case was separated under Article 174.1 (large-scale money laundering by an organized group) and Article 160 (misappropriation) of the Russian Criminal Code," the source said.
Quoting the investigators, the source said the laundering of funds misappropriated by former Yukos executives in 2005 is in question.
The source added that Article 174.1 belongs to the category of grave crimes and entails imprisonment for a term of up to seven years.
"Under the second article the case is likely to be closed over the expiry of the statute of limitations," he said.
