Gazprom to increase gas filling station network in Tatarstan 50% in 2014

KAZAN. Dec 9 (Interfax) - OJSC Gazprom will raise its number of gas filling stations in Tatarstan to 17 in 2014, the company's press service said.

Plans to expand the use of natural gas as motor fuel in the region were discussed at a meeting on Monday between Gazprom's CEO Alexei Miller and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.

A network of 11 Gazprom filling stations is currently in operation in Tatarstan. The company is planning on reconstructing two stations, and putting six new ones into operation in Kazan, Nizhnekamsk, Chistopol, Zelenodolsk, Nurlat and Bugulma.

"Alongside these projects, the government of Tatarstan will convert 800 vehicles used for city transportation and 1,200 special-purpose vehicles," the press release said.

Gazprom said that there is a cooperation agreement between the company and Tatarstan, as well as a gas infrastructure development agreement and an agreement to expand the region's use of natural gas as motor fuel.

Tatarstan's gasification level of 99.5% is one of the highest in Russia, where the average is 64.4%.
