Police force protesters from traffic area of streets blocked in central Kyiv - Interior Ministry

KYIV. Dec 9 (Interfax) - Law enforcement authorities have started forcing protesters from the traffic area of Grushevsky Street and Instituskaya Street in central Kyiv, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry told Interfax.

"Law enforcement authorities started to force protesters from traffic area at Institutskaya and Grushevsky Streets, where the traffic is blocked. No clashes are taking place now," the Interior Ministry said.

It concerns forcing out protesters in the government quarter in order to unblock passages to administrative buildings, the Interior Ministry said. Such actions are not carried out at Kyiv's main square Maidan.

The decision to force out protestors has been made due to numerous appeals of citizens regarding the blockage of the traffic area, the Kyiv police press office told Interfax.

"Due to the fact that many appeals of citizens came to the police and that the normal life of the city was disrupted, it has been decided to hold works so that interior troops and police force protesters from traffic areas," the press office said.
