Slovenia hopes alliance with Hungary, Bulgaria will speed up EU talks on South Stream
GORKI. Dec 10 (Interfax) - The joint position taken by Slovenia, Hungary and Bulgaria on the South Stream gas pipeline should speed up talks on the issue, Slovenian Prime Minister Alenka Bratusek said at a press conference on Tuesday after holding talks with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
"Three of our countries are members of the European Union [EU] and must comply with the EU's laws. Our joint efforts may result in a quick and effective solution to these issues. The project is the same as before and there is no reason for each country to seek solutions to these issues separately," Bratusek said in response to a question asked by Interfax at the press conference.
At the end of November, the prime ministers of Slovenia, Hungary and Bulgaria agreed to take a joint position on issues concerning the implementation of the South Stream gas pipeline in their countries.
