Yanukovych fires head of Kyiv city admin, deputy secretary of security council

KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has dismissed Oleksandr Popov as head of the Kyiv city administration and Volodymyr Syvkovych as deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

Presidential decrees discharging the two officials appeared on the presidential website on Saturday.

Earlier on Saturday, Ukraine's prosecutor general had said Popov and Syvkovych were suspected of being the chief organizers of the unlawful dispersal of a pro-European Union demonstration in central Kyiv early on November 30.
