Armenia ready to take preventive measures against Azerbaijan - Defense Ministry
YEREVAN. Dec 16 (Interfax) - The Armenian Defense Ministry has warned Azerbaijan it will retaliate against the murder of its serviceman.
"Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian and the OSCE Minsk Group cochairmen appealed on November 5, 2013, for a demonstration of self-control as regards military operations. Consistent with that appeal, the Armenian side has not fired a single shot in that period following the orders of the Armenian defense minister," says the Armenian Defense Ministry's statement obtained by Interfax.
"The incident of December 14, 2013, in which a contract serviceman of the Armenian Armed Forces, private Grant Pogosian, died in a shooting from the side of Azerbaijan, proved once again that the Azeri side ignored the appeals of the OSCE Minsk Group cochairmen and continued to breach the truce," it said.
"For that reason, the actions of the Armenian Armed Forces will be preventive and firm," the statement said.
