Lukashenko promises to do utmost for his "Cuban friends"

MINSK. Dec 16 (Interfax) - Belarus intends to deepen trade and economic cooperation with Cuba, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said while receiving credentials from foreign ambassadors in Minsk on Monday.

"We have a long-standing amicable relationship and, believe me, we will do the utmost for our Cuban friends," he told the Cuban ambassador.

"Belarus is interested in the promotion of political dialogue and economic cooperation with Latin American countries. We are glad to have a time-tested partner in that region, Cuba," the Belarusian leader stressed.

"We value the traditionally high level of Belarusian-Cuban relations and our solidarity," Lukashenko said. "Belarus is ready to carry on the trust-based political dialogue and to develop trade and economic cooperation with this friendly country," the president added.
