Transneft buying Kuyumba-Taishet pipes from three Russian manufacturers
KRASNOYARSK. Dec 17 (Interfax) - Transneft has selected Russian manufacturers to supply pipes for the Kuyumba-Taishet pipeline, which it officially started to build on December 17.
"The suppliers have already been chosen. As of today, 100 km of pipe has been delivered. The pipes are being supplied by Russian manufacturers: Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ) (ChelPipe) , Voronezh Pipe Works and Vyksa Steel Works . In other words we are providing for our needs with pipes from Russian plants alone," Alexei Sapsai, a Transneft vice president, told reporters.
Reports have said Transneft faced a shortage of pipes for the second stage of the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline because Russian pipe mills were unable to produce enough of them. Some pipes had to be imported from Ukraine and China.
The 700-km Kuyumba-Taishet pipeline is due to go into service at the end of 2016.
