State Duma committee supports amnesty of mass disturbances, hooliganism suspects
MOSCOW. Dec 18 (Interfax) - A State Duma committee has approved a series of amendments to the presidential amnesty bill. Not only the persons convicted of mass disturbances (Parts 2 and 3 of Article 212 of the Russian Criminal Code) but also the persons charged with or suspected of this offense will be eligible for the amnesty.
The committee made its decision on Wednesday morning.
It also recommended that the amnesty apply to the persons convicted, suspected and accused of hooliganism (Article 213).
The State Duma is advised not to make eligible for the amnesty terrorists and child molesters.
