Putin prepares for major news conference with about 1,300 reporters accredited for it - Peskov

MOSCOW. Dec 18 (Interfax) - About 1,300 reporters have been accredited to participate in the traditional major new conference of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which will be held in the World Trade Center in Moscow on December 19, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"The president has been preparing for the news conference throughout the day today," Peskov told Interfax on Wednesday.

Despite the fact that it is impossible to forecast reporters' questions, various ministries and agencies provide Putin with field-specific materials so that the president is able to respond to questions concerning very different aspects of life in the country, Peskov said.

The news conference will be held the same way as in 2012 - last year's format has been found "successful," the spokesman said.

Some applicants for the accreditation have been refused participation in the news conference by organizer, Peskov said.

"Several refusals occurred, they were related with the fact that applicants had prior convictions and psychiatric diseases," Peskov said. This has been found out during background checks, he said.
