Estonian foreign minister favors higher level of trust between Russia and NATO

TALLINN. Dec 19 (Interfax) - The deployment of Iskander missile systems in the Kaliningrad region is a result of a low level of trust between Russia and NATO, Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet told Interfax.

"I do not know the exact motives of the Russian side - it is up to them to speak about this - but this measure stems from a low level of trust between us," he said.

"Indeed, the Russian side said formally that it has every right to do so and it has violated nothing," the minister.

"If the level of trust between Russia and NATO were higher, it is quite possible that such steps would not have been taken," he said.
