Human Rights Council head supports plans to pardon Khodorkovsky
MOSCOW. Dec 19 (Interfax) - The plans to pardon former Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky are good news, Head of the Presidential Human Rights Council Mikhail Fedotov said.
"This is evidently good news for everyone, for whom mercy is not just a word," Fedotov told Interfax on Thursday.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that if Khodorkovsky filed an amnesty request, it will be considered. The president has kept his word," Fedotov said.
