Tatarstan Airlines fined 1.2 mln rubles for labor law violations

KAZAN. Dec 23 (Interfax) - Tatarstan Airlines has been fined 1.2 million rubles for labor law violations, the Tatarstan State Labor Inspectorate said on Monday.

The inspection was held from November 19 through December 16 with consent of the Tatarstan transport prosecutor's office. Sixty violations in the payment of salaries, the work-rest regime and labor safety regulations were uncovered.

The airline was compelled to eliminate the violations. Seventy-four administrative cases were opened against the airline and 45 of them were heard and resulted in the fine.

Also, 74 administrative cases were opened against former Tatarstan Airlines General Director Aksan Giniyatullin, whose duty was to ensure the compliance with labor laws.

The Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) said earlier that the Tatarstan Airlines operating certificate would be withdrawn on December 31 "due to the airline's failure to meet Russia's civil aviation certification requirements and violation of the flight hours regulations, the work-rest regime and the rules of maintaining crews' proficiency."

The Tatarstan Airlines fleet is being transferred to Ak Bars Aero, which will carry on flights consistent with the Tatarstan Airlines schedule after December 31.

A Tatarstan Airlines Boeing 737 en route from Moscow to Kazan crashed on November 17 in an attempted go-around. There were 50 people aboard, including two children and six crewmembers. No one survived the crash.

A pilot error and technical causes, including a hardware failure, are the main theories of the accident.
